Anti-imperialism and the Stalinist legacy: A Marxist critique of campism
Saturday 4:00 PM
Amongst the left there are those who argue that in order to oppose the undeniable depravities of the US empire, and its allies, we have to support the ‘opposing side’: Iran, Syria, Russia, China, and other ‘anti-imperialist’ countries.
This can come as quite a shock to those of us who see the fight against imperialism and war bound up with the fight for human liberation. After all, are these countries not obvious examples of authoritarian and repressive rule? This session will critically examine the politics of campism and its roots in Stalinism.
