Conference Information

Socialism conference will be held at the University of Western Australia Nedlands Campus. This is on the corner of Stirling Hwy and Hampden Road, opposite the main Crawley campus. UWA campus parking available, accessible from Gordon St. It is free on weekends.

Registration opens at 9.30am each day. A registration desk will be set up outside Hew Roberts lecture theatre for ticket holders to receive a lanyard which will allow you access to conference sessions. We will also be selling tickets at the registration desk for those who did not pre-purchase tickets.

We would appreciate it if ticket holders arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of morning sessions (9.45am) so that the 10am sessions are able to start on time, with most attendees seated.

Food

Lunch and dinner will be available to purchase during breaks. Lunch will be Subway wraps with meat, vegan, and gluten free options available. Saturday dinner will be pizza or pides from Ararat Kebabs Nedlands. Sunday dinner will be burritos or bowls from Zambreros Nedlands.

Snacks, tea and coffee will be available to purchase throughout the conference.

Wrap up events in the evening

On Saturday and Sunday evenings there will dinner and drinks available for purchase from 6.30-8.15pm. Only those who are over 18 or with their legal guardian will be able to stay for this. Please bring ID and drink responsibly. People who are intoxicated will not be served.

Rooms

The conference will be held across three rooms: Blue, Pink and Yellow. Please check the program to see which room each session is in.

Public Transport

For attendees travelling by public transport, there are several bus routes that will take your directly to the campus. Please see the image below for more details.

COVID 19

The Socialism Conference organising team takes the health and safety of our guests, speakers and venue staff very seriously. We ask attendees to please keep in mind the health and wellbeing of all other guests, speakers and building staff throughout the conference by wearing a mask and being COVID conscious. We're asking all attendees to please take a Rapid Antigen Test before coming to the conference, and if you’re feeling unwell with flu-like symptoms please stay at home.

We're asking all conference attendees to wear high quality P2 or N95 masks throughout the duration of the conference, in all sessions and to refrain from eating or taking off masks during conference sessions. P2 masks will be available to purchase at the rego desk if you don't already have one.
