Fighting authoritarians across the globe from Argentina to the US
Friday 6:00 PM
You don’t have to look far to see the barbarity of the capitalist system on full display across the world. In the face of ongoing capitalist crises the ruling class the world over, from Argentina to the US, have adopted a myriad of authoritarian regimes and tactics.
In Argentina, the far right Milei regime has attempted to shift the burden of the country’s ongoing economic problems onto workers through intense austerity measures and state repression. Meanwhile, in the US, Trump has not wasted any time unleashing the forces of the state to round up and deport migrants or to silence opponents of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.
But these attacks have not been met meekly. From the mass strikes that paralyzed the Argentine economy, to the heroic battles fought against ICE thugs in LA, we see time and again that people are willing to fight this wave of authoritarian repression.
Featuring special international guest Ariana del Zotto from the Socialist Workers’ Movement (MST) in Argentina, and US socialist Ryan Laws, this panel will explore and celebrate the fight against the authoritarians across the globe, from Argentina’s Milei to Trump in the US.
