Crude capitalism: Oil, corporate power and the environment

Saturday 5:00 PM

Crude oil has become one of the most fundamental resources in the world economy. More than just a source of energy, oil is central to the mechanisms of capitalism itself, from global networks of finance to the dynamics of imperialism. At the same time, its consumption is driving the planet ever closer to climate apocalypse at an accelerating pace.

This session will explore oil as the lifeblood of capitalism, and why there can be no solutions to the climate crisis while capitalism still lives.
