Book Club: Angela Davis' Women, race and class
Saturday 5:00 PM
The work by the radical activist Angela Y Davis “women, race and class” offers an alternative view for women’s struggle for liberation. Davis sheds light on the often-over-looked contributions of black women and working-class women to movements like abolitionism and women’s suffrage. Davis examines the racism and class prejudice inherent in so much of white feminism, and in doing so highlights over-looked revolutionary heroines, from field slaves to mill workers, who fought back and refused to accept the lives which they were born into.
