How Stalinism ruined communism
Saturday 11:30 AM
The Russian Revolution offered millions of workers, peasants and the poor around the world hope for a better future free of exploitation, oppression and war. Yet today, instead of invoking this proud history, the mention of communism invokes a far different picture - one of starvation, repression and dictatorship, of Stalinist Russia.
How was it that the theory of, and fight for, workers’ emancipation was so corrupted that it became synonymous with the authoritarian Soviet state? What impact did this have on revolutionaries and radicals across the world? Join us for this session as we explore the legacy of Stalinism and its impact today.
